A note about brazilian currency

Exchange rates have varied between US$3.00 (three US Dollar) and US$2,80. Roughly speaking, if you see a price marked in Brazilian currency, divide it in three parts and that will be about what the item would cost you in US Dollars. Most Brazilian businesses do not accept US Dollars as payment. US Dollars can be exchanged for Brazilian Currency at banks and exchange houses. Remember, English speaking Naturists at Dois Amigos B & B are available to assist you at Colina do Sol.

Several Airlines connect from the United States, Canada and Europe to Brazil’s major coastal cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. After arriving in these cities the traveler must change to a connecting flight to the airport serving the City of Porto Alegre, RS. Notifying Dois Amigos B&B (E-mail: DoisAmigosBandB@aol.com , Phone: 55 51 912-80976) in advance will ensure that a friendly English speaking driver meets you at the Porto Alegre Airport. The driver will assist you with your baggage and transport you to Colina do Sol in a comfortable 4-wheeldrive, air conditioned vehicle. The trip from the airport to Colina do Sol, about one hour, is scenic showing the contrasts between Brazilian city, small town, rural and country living.

DRIVING

Coming from the south of the state, the bus terminal or the air-port:

Traveling on highway BR116 from the south, just after the turnoff to Novo Hamburgo, you will come to the overpass of Estância Velha just before the divided highway ends. Turn right just before this overpass, heading toward Sapiranga. Just after the turnoff to Sapiranga, there is a Chevrolet dealer on the left and an overpass. Just before the overpass, turn off to the right and continue along an asphalt road full of speed bumps for about 2 miles, where, just before the asphalt ends, continue to the left toward the Clube de Paraquedismo. Keeping to the main road, you will cross two bridges and continue another 5 miles to the end, where you need to continue to the left. Before reaching the pavement of Morro da Pedra, two miles after the last fork, go uphill to the right and turn left at the top of the hill onto a road running through a Eucalyptus forest that ends at the principal gate of Colina do Sol. Signs mark the entire way.

A note about driving in Brazil

Rental cars are available, but we do not recommend that drivers who do not speak the Portuguese language, or are not accustomed to Latin America style driving and road signs, drive in Brazil. Driving schools are available for those intending to live, and drive in Brazil. We highly recommend these, as they are very informative and reasonably priced.
