Who we are

Colina do Sol Rules and Regulations

Brazil's overall acceptance of nudism that is part of the Naturist lifestyle, can be traced back beyond the 500 plus years that the European explorers came to this beautiful country. Assimilated into the traditional Brazilian lifestyle, these mostly Spanish and Portuguese explorers, soldiers, their African slaves, and missionaries succumbed to this stress free lifestyle, a lifestyle that protects not only the respect for one’s body, but also the preservation of the land and environment where the body dwells. Even today, in the far Northwest reaches of Brazil are enclaves set aside to protect the indigenous people, a people without clothing that have never experienced the shame of Adam an Eve.

Escaping the ravages of war torn Europe, lives without promise, or just seeking adventure, or joining their relatives, more Europeans came later to the shores and interior of Brazil, bringing with them ideas, concepts and traditions. Today, many of them and their descendants have joined together in creating the Modern Day Naturism of Brazil.

The Beginning of Modern Day Naturism of Brazil

The Colina do Sol (Hill of the Sun) Naturist Community is the realization of a dream that was developed by a unique couple, Celso and Paula. Like his father, Celso studied to become a lawyer, but with one course remaining at the University he decided that the practice of law was not for him. Instead, he decided to follow his heart and to look for a life that would provide more peace and freedom. He established Brazil's first Naturist Club, The Club of Pinho Beach at Praia do Pinho (Beach of the Pines), SC, Brazil, in 1986.

That was 1986, the officially recognized beginning of Brazil’s modern day Naturist movement. Having overcome political, religious and cultural taboos that foreign influences attempted to establish, Naturism in Brazil is now protected by the law and receives the full support of the Brazilian people, government and institutions. Generally, Naturists receive positive, respectful recognition, and enjoy an elevated stature within Brazilian society

The development of Colina do Sol

Celso and Paula, the two young idealists with eight years of studying and experience gained at Praia do Pinho, Pedras Altas, and in other Naturist clubs and associations in Brazil, Europe and North America; established rules, regulations and frameworks for relationships that became the cornerstone of Brazil's largest Naturist enterprise. For more than two years they searched, together, seeking the appropriate location to execute their project. They selected a rural site, atop a hill; about an hour drive from the International Airport (POA) of the City of Porto Alegre, the Capital of Brazil's State of Rio Grande do Sul (River of the South). Today, a solid community with model legal, commercial and socially creative practices are in place. Here, hundreds of others join in and share the dream once unique to Celso and Paula.

Geographic & Topographic Characteristics

In an area of around 600,000 sq. meters, about 126 acres, with much adjoining land available for growth on the top of a plateau, equidistant from the principal urban centers of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul and only 50 km (31 miles) from the State's Capital, the community of "Colina do Sol" enjoys total privacy. Serving as a very large green fence, a natural forest of 60 thousand trees surrounds the community.

In the community's unique scenic locations, are plans to build more entertainment centers, taverns and restaurants that will take advantage of the pleasing views. Here, it is possible to appreciate both the sunrise and sunset. A view of more than 50 km (31 miles), atop the "Colina" (hill), as resident Naturists refer to it, is located on the highest peak of the region. Higher than the frosts and fogs of the lower regions, at an altitude of 200 meters (655 feet) above sea level, and lower than the cold air of the mountains, even Winter's weather is pleasant. Located below the Equator, Brazil's Summer Season takes place when it is wintertime in Europe, and North America.

The Colina do Sol Naturist Club

The Colina do Sol Naturist Club - CNCS, was created for the improvement and further development of the Naturist activities at Colina do Sol. It solidifies the participation of each of the Naturists while they are in the process of exercising their personal ideals as they may relate to the overall Naturist Movement. The total social and residential area of Colina do Sol belongs to the CNCS, with a portion owned by the Ocara Hotel and Restaurant company. In it, the Club offers to its members, guests and visitors a varied infrastructure of leisure activities. On weekends and during holidays when more people utilize the Club's facilities, sports and cultural activities are abundant.

Administration

The CNCS is the administrator and collector of the funds provided by Entrance Fees, Priority Membership Titles and monthly dues. The Club is also responsible for the controlling of the entrance of people into Colina do Sol, and the implementation of the rules of conduct as stipulated by the Brazilian Federation of Naturism, FBrN, by the General Assembly of the CNCS, and by Colina do Sol's Deliberative Council. The Deliberative Council is an elected Council made up of seven members, and three reserve members. Matters of contention are brought before them, all sides are heard, a vote within the council is taken, and the council's decisions are final.

Membership

Contributing Member: By paying an initial non-transferable membership fee, and contributing monthly to the maintenance of the Club, the Contributing Members, and their dependents, approved by the Deliberative Council may use all the social and public facilities of Colina do Sol. The payment of additional entrance fees is not required. The statements of the installment payments for memberships and monthly dues are sent by mail, to be paid at a bank.

Priority Members: Every Contributing Member can become a Priority Member if they acquire the respective Title of Priority Member. This type of membership differs from the Contributing Membership in that it may be transferred to another Contributing Member. Besides having special discounts due to its social category, the Priority Members have the right, upon their availability, to obtain Residential Concessions in Colina do Sol.

Patrimonial Members: Independently of being a previous Contributing or Priority Member, every interested Naturist, approved by the Deliberative Council, can obtain a Title of Patrimonial Membership. This title is limited to a total of 200 members. Patrimonial Members have all the rights of the other membership types. However, in addition it allows the Patrimonial Member the exclusive participation at the General Assemblies of the CNCS, hold office in the CNCS and vote. Each Patrimonial Title has one vote and is entitled to vote for candidates running for the Deliberative Council. Each Title represents 1/200th. Ownership of the Club.

Deliberative Council and Executive Director

The Club is managed by the Deliberative Council, composed of seven permanent members, and three substitute members, elected among the Patrimonial Members, with a two-year term. Two members of the Council may be elected from the ranks of the Priority members. The Deliberative Council elects among them an Executive Director, who is responsible for the performance of the Council’s deliberations, and is permitted to appoint secretaries and assistants to fulfill their tasks.

It's the job of the Executive Director, or his/her personally designated assistant(s), to inspect directly the execution of the Club's rules and regulations and the conduct of the total operation of the Club's leisure infrastructure.
